7 Songs to Add to Your Summer Playlist: May Highlights
As May is coming to a close, we look back at some of the newest tracks we’ve loved this month. We’ve also created a Spotify playlist that is linked at the end of this article so you can conveniently listen to all these amazing tracks.
1. Megan Vice, “Super Delicious”
First up is the latest song from New Yorker Megan Vice. Vice’s music is inspired by a variety of genres, ranging from glam rock to 2000’s pop. “Super Delicious” features disco melodies and pop flare. She is known for being a mix of glam and grit as well as for her own distinct musical sound.
2. Flying Potion, “Constrictor”
Following up is a single from the self-titled album of Chicago based artist Flying Potion. This song uses original techniques with pedal steel creating an innovative sound and style. In this song, vocalist Jac Cornelius wrote about his chronic health issues and how he deals with his behavior.
3. James Clayton, “Avalene”
“Avalene” is a psychedelic tune recorded live in a basement, which perfectly encapsulates the feel of hearing this live. This song is a retelling of a memorable night with your best friend.
4. Ellis Redon, “Black Hole”
“Black Hole” comes from San Antonio artist Ellis Redon’s second album ‘Bloody Honey.' Redon’s first album focused on synths and drums while his latest album heavily features bass and guitar.
5. Headphone Hair, “This Is All In Your Head”
Next up is the infatuating track from Headphone Hair’s latest album ‘Wishing Well.' This song describes the relationship between two people not ready for each other while they continue to unintentionally hurt each other.
6. Taylor Knox, “Live It Up”
“Live It Up” is the lead single from Taylor Knox’s upcoming sophomore album ‘Here Tonight.' Knox's infatuation with the magic of nighttime has influenced his next album. This track is filled with catchy tunes with strong guitars and drums.
7. Ponytails, “Just Yours”
Finally is the latest release from Ponytails. “Just Yours” is a song about accepting love and all the ways people find each other. Check out the music video for this song!
